Incoloy028 Improves StrengthIncoloy028 Solution Strengthening:
Incoloy028 adds elements (chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, etc.) that are different from the atomic size of the matrix metal to cause the distortion of the matrix metal. Elements (such as cobalt) that can reduce the stacking fault energy of the alloy matrix and elements (tungsten, molybdenum, etc.) that can slow down the diffusion rate of the matrix elements are added to strengthen the matrix.
Incoloy028 precipitation strengthening
Through aging treatment, the second phase (γ', γ", carbide, etc.) is precipitated from the supersaturated solid solution to strengthen the alloy. The γ' phase is the same as the matrix, both of which are face-centered cubic structures, and the lattice constants are similar to those of the matrix and are co-lattice with the crystal, so the γ phase can be evenly precipitated in the form of fine particles in the matrix, which hinders the dislocation movement and produces a significant strengthening effect. The γ' phase is an A3B type intermetallic compound, A stands for nickel, cobalt, B stands for aluminum, titanium, niobium, tantalum, vanadium, tungsten, and chromium, molybdenum, and iron can be both A and B. The typical γ' phase in nickel-based alloys is Ni3(Al,Ti). The strengthening effect of the γ' phase can be enhanced by Incoloy028 in the following ways:
(1) increasing the number of γ' phases;
(2) the γ phase has an appropriate mismatch degree with the matrix to obtain the strengthening effect of co-lattice distortion,
and (3) the addition of niobium, tantalum and other elements to increase the reversed-phase domain energy of the γ' phase to improve its ability to resist dislocation cleavage
